Welcoming Jennifer Fields to CPGR: A Relational, Person-Centered Approach to Care
We are excited to welcome Jennifer Fields, MA (she/her) to CPGR as our newest practicum student!
Jennifer brings a warm, relational lens to her work and a genuine curiosity about the people she sits with in the room.
Relationships at the Center of Therapy
For Jennifer, relationships are central to understanding both people and the therapeutic process. She believes we are shaped by our experiences and connections with others, shaping how we see ourselves, relate to those around us, and move through the world. In session, she strives to create a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard and understood, approaching each person's experience with curiosity as they work together to notice patterns and explore new ways of relating to themselves and others.
Areas of Focus
Jennifer works with clients experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and significant life transitions. She's also drawn to questions of identity, belonging, meaning, and faith or spirituality, and she approaches each client's unique history, culture, and way of making sense of the world with openness and respect.
An Evidence-Based, Person-Centered Toolkit
While her work is grounded in a relational and person-centered perspective, Jennifer tailors therapy to each client's needs and goals. She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), exposure-based interventions, and trauma-informed approaches.
Training and Experience
Jennifer earned her master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, where she is currently a doctoral student in the PsyD Counseling Psychology program. Her clinical experience spans university counseling and private practice settings, primarily with adults and emerging adults.
Outside the Office
When she's not in session, Jennifer enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, biking, and camping, along with time with family, friends, and her two dogs.
